If you still want to play as Jin and somehow want to deal good damage, try the non-EWHF combos first. You can give him a try and you'll see what I mean. And dear reader, you have been warned though, despite the flashy moves and combos, he is not easy to use as he requires a huge amount of effort to be really effective. Being the face of the franchise, he'll surely attract many players. You need to master EWHF and whatever you want to call the 1 version, I'd like to call it as others do, eCD+1 or electric crouch dash 1, to obtain maximum damage. Now for this Jin Kazama, keep in mind though that the inputs and executions still have Mishima flavor written all over it and I would definitely not recommend this character for beginners. If you prefer Mishima fighting style and miss the good old Jin, then Devil Jin is the way to go. Come Tekken 5, Devil Jin was added to the roster of playable characters and was granted the old Jin's Mishima fighting style along with some new moves. Initially Jin uses Mishima fighting style, but since Tekken 4, Jin changed his fighting style to Kyokushin Karate. I don't play Mishimas much as I am having a tough time doing electric or god fists.
